Golf: Manassero makes history in Valencia - ClubCall.com: "Matteo Manassero secured a four-shot victory at the Castello Masters to become the youngest European Tour event winner.
The 17-year-old Italian sealed the title thanks to three consecutive birdie putts on the back nine to move to 16 under with a final-round 67. Manassero saw off Spain's Ignacio Garrido into second place on 12 under, while overnight leader Gary Boyd slipped to third in Valencia after the Englishman dropped four shots to finish on 11 under.
'It feels fantastic. It's unbelievable, a very special moment,' said Manassero afterwards.
'I couldn't imagine to be a winner the first year, it was just to keep my card and now I'm a winner already.'
'The turning point was saving par on 12 and then hitting birdie on 13,' Manassero added.
'I was very nervous at the beginning and very nervous at the end even with a good cushion of shots.'"
