World steeplechase champion Dominguez in doping scandal: "Spain's worldsteeplechase champion, Marta Domínguez has been questioned today by the Civil Guard as part of an investigation into doping.
Dominguez's home in Palencia was raided by police officers and a laptop, a metallic briefcase and a cardboard box were confiscated.
14 people were arrested today as part of 'Operation Galgo' including her trainer, César Pérez, and 'Operation Puerto' doctor Eufemiano Fuentes. Police also raided addresses in Madrid and Las Palmas and another trainer, Manuel Pascua Piqueras, is allegedly among the suspects.
35-year-old Domínguez has taken time out to have a child and will overlook the entire 2011 season because of her pregnancy, but intends to return in time for the 2012 London Olympics. Domínguez won the 5,000 metres at the 2002 and 2006 European championships.
Operation Galgo is the third police investigation into sports doping after last year's 'Operation Grial', which led to a two-year ban for Spanish 20km walker Francisco 'Paquillo' Fernández. The silver medalist at the 2004 Olympics was among 11 people arrested in raids carried out last November."
